Definition

  • Rapidly growing, vascularised proliferation of granulomatous tissue
  • Aetiology: Surgery, trauma, infection or idiopathic

Findings

  • Rapidly growing, vascular pedunculated lesion
  • Tend to bleed spontaneously or after minor trauma
  • Usually not painful, but may irritate

Mangement

  • Try topical steroids (e.g. Ultracortenol ointment 4x/d for 1-2 weeks)
    • consider Tobradex ointment 4x/d for 1-2 weeks (if bacterial infection possible)
  • Excision
